Senior Accountant Job Description & Requirements

Position: Senior Accountant

Location: Golden, CO

Reports to: Controller

General Summary:

The Senior Accountant will report directly to the Controller and be directly responsible for performing a variety of support functions including assisting in the management of the company's daily and month-end close processes, reviewing reconciliations, performing technical accounting research, and reviewing, maintaining, and updating documentation of policies and procedures.

This role will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting functions of the Finance department. This position will supervise the AR & AP Staff Accountants, assigning/auditing their work, while personally handling more difficult procedures and analyses.

Essential Job Functions:

Responsible for the day-to-day accounting and finance functions

a Daily Bank Reconciliations, Initiate Wires/ACH's, Deposit Payments

o Investigate discrepancies, ensure accurate general ledger coding selections o Review and Prepare Journal Entries, Monthly Expense Reports and Reconciliations

a Prepare preliminary and finalized monthly financial reports Supervise AR and AP Staff Accountants, including providing guidance, development,support, and training

• Perform month end close proceduresIncluding preparing/reviewing related journal entries, accruals, and accountreconciliations Analysis of general ledger accounts and assist with monthly and quarterly review fordepartmental budgets

• Budget creation, maintenance, and reporting on quarterly and as needed basis

• Lead and Assist with Annual Financial Audit, Tax Engagement, and Inventory Observation

Assist in documentation of existing policies and establishment of new or updated policies Assist the Controller and complete special projects as assigned

• Performs other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications, Competencies, and Key Attributes:

Bachelor's degree in accounting

7+ years accounting experience

• Solid understanding of accounting and GAAP reporting a must

• Excellent communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail

• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines

• Strong analytical, problem solving, organizational, and verbal/written communication skills

• Advanced Excel (and overall Microsoft Office Suite), ERP and computer skills

• Experience managing annual audit process Experience managing of personnel

• Strong focus on improving processes and systems

• Must be able to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands

• Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality

• Proactive and Self-Starter

Compensation Range:

$70,000-80,000, depending on experience.
