Sales Associate, Retail Store Job Description & Requirements

 

Mountainman Outdoor Supply Company is the leading independent outdoor specialty retailer in upstate New York. Established in 1993 in the Adirondack Mountains, we are New York’s leading paddlesports retailer and complete Adirondack outfitter. We pride ourselves on outstanding customer service and carry the finest products the outdoor industry has to offer.  We are looking for an experienced, high-energy retail associate that loves the outdoors, is knowledgeable of a wide range of outdoor products and thrives on customer service. The 6-million acre Adirondack Park is the largest protected area in the northeast and offers you a chance to live, work and play right in your own backyard!

 

Sales Associate Responsibilities

·      Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through excellent sales service

·      Assess customers’ needs and provide assistance and information on product features

·      Follow and achieve department’s sales goals on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis

·      “Go the extra mile” to drive sales

·      Maintain in-stock and presentable condition assigned areas

·      Actively seek out customers in store

·      Process POS (point of sale) purchases

 

Ideally you will have:

·      1+ years of proven experience in an outdoor retail POS environment

·      Excellent verbal and written communication skills

·      Merchandising skills and experience

·      Ability to work weekends & holidays

·      Must exhibit a high degree of flexibility, maintain a solution-driven focus in challenging situations, adapt quickly to changing business requirements

·      Excellent computer skills and experience with POS systems
