Maintenance Tech I Job Description & Requirements

Under the direction of the Facilities Manager, conduct the proper operation of mountain/grounds maintenance activities within the Park

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Accountability

  • General landscape construction and maintenance activities throughout the Park, including, but not limited to:
    • Turf care and maintenance
    • Drainage control
  • Access control and parking control during competitions and events
  • Snow removal activities throughout the Park, including, but not limited to:
    • Salting and Plowing roads and parking-lots.
    • Shoveling foot-paths, parking-lots, stairs, etc.
  • Perform general maintenance duties as prescribed by the Facilities Maintenance Lead or Manager.
  • Perform tasks with hand and power tools and equipment.
  • Assist with event set-up and tear-down
  • Participate in facility construction and repair projects. Including but not limited to:
    • Carpentry, plumbing, painting, heating and cooling systems
  • Assist with janitorial duties as needed (cleaning of restrooms and removal of trash and vacuum as needed)
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge and Essential Skills

  • Ability to perform strenuous activities, including shoveling, and lifting, outdoors in extreme temperatures
  • Experience using lawnmowers, brushers and weed eaters desired
  • Experience operating heavy equipment (ie. skid steer, loader, backhoe, chainsaw and snow - blower)
  • Must be proficient with hand tools (ie. shovels, rakes, etc.)
  • Must have general shop knowledge, and be familiar with shop tools
  • A general knowledge of mechanics and maintenance schedules, with an eye for detail
  • Knowledge of radio protocol desired
  • Excellent oral communication
  • Must be a self-starter – able to work well unsupervised
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Ability to work independently from a task list responsibly, efficiently and safely.
  • A valid driver’s license and ability to drive safely
  • Must be available during events, weekends, and early mornings

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Flexible work schedule – ability to work nights, weekends and holidays

Environmental Job Requirements

  • Ability to work outdoors in all temperature/weather extremes

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and or move up to 30 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Hearing – to converse with others in a normal conversation
  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit or stand, walk, use repetitive wrist movements, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or twist
