Role Overview:

The Junior Developer position will work on projects determined by senior members of the web development team as well as responding to reports of bugs by Powder7 staff. The Powder7 technology stack and site has been custom built by our founders Jordan and Amy since the company started in 2007. This will include continuing to enhance our front-end user experience and functions and the development/enhancement of back-end systems.  

 

Role Responsibilities:

Development & Coding

  • Deliver the technology roadmap as designed by Powder7’s President

  • Work with senior team members and consultants to continually evolve and improve site architecture and modern technologies to scale and grow the business

  • Must be able to learn to be proficient with PHP code that can scale and is secure. Must quickly gain fluency to the point that you can almost write entirely from scratch from memory with minimal syntax errors.

  • Strong with MySQL commands that can scale and are secure. Must gain fluency to the point that you can almost write entirely from scratch from memory with minimal syntax errors

  • Must gain strong JS skills and be able to use Ajax to retrieve data via MySQL

  • Must gain CSS skills. Advanced CSS skills are a major plus but not a requirement.

  • Experience with ecommerce and some exposure to inventory, fulfillment, order flow management systems 

 

Requirements:

  • Option 1) College degree in Computer Science  

  • Option 2) College degree in an other science field such as Engineering, Statistics, or Economics

  • Option 3) A CS certificate or completion of a CS boot camp

  • Willingness to work at any time when code or server issues arise. Approximately four times per year.

  • Work full time, 40 hours per week.

  • Be willing to work in other areas of the business for a minority of time to best understand those areas of the business. This may be scheduled on an ongoing basis.

  • Bonus Points

    • Experience working in a team environment

    • Coding experience other than web development

    • Desire to constantly improve and not accept the status quo of systems

    • Desire to do things right and not take the easy way out of challenges

    • Completion of college CS courses

    • Are you passionate about skiing? This will help you engage in this role and help what we’re trying to achieve with our front end systems.

    • Live in the Denver metro area and can work on-site full time
