A little bit about the role

The primary purpose of this role is to be a subject matter expert who drives Kathmandu's Material & Trim strategy end to end. Direct responsibility for delivering seasonal for seasonal materials to meet brand aesthetic, cost, quality assurance standards & sustainability targets;

  • Work cross functionally across PD, Design and Development, to ensure clear alignment of goals and solutions to challenges that present along the timeline.
  • Oversee the cost acquisition activity (of the Product Costings and Process Manager) and support that team as need arises through decision making and guidance.
  • Identify areas of advantage gained through efficiency in either materials use and deployment and suggest action plans relating thereto.
  • Provide guidance and maintain connectivity and accountability with the Product Compliance and Quality specialist.
  • Maintain clear communications and updates to the GM of Product regarding Raw Materials costings, Finished Goods costings, and Compliance issues as necessary.

This is what you'll need

  • University or College Degree required in textile technology, fibre science or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in the textile/retail industry. Production experience desirable.
  • Strong technical background in raw materials and knowledge covering all areas of textiles from fibers, yarn, material construction, finishes, washes, and printing.
  • Strong knowledge of industry testing standards.
  • Strong chemical knowledge along with excellent dyeing and finishing experience desirable.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines on an ongoing basis.
