Community Engagement Coordinator Job Description & Requirements

 

The Community Engagement Coordinator is primarily responsible for creating and fostering relationships with local community groups and organizations that further the mission of GoodTurn Cycles. This individual will be responsible for the marketing initiatives of GoodTurn Cycles, managing our social media accounts and website, as well as coordinating our few ecommerce sales. In addition, this role will schedule and execute educational courses targeting women, older riders, and other demographics underrepresented in the bicycle industry. 

Approximate breakdown of work: 50% Events & Marketing | 40% Sales & Customer Service | 10% eCommerce Management

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Build & foster relationships with community and like-minded organizations

  • Foster sense of community at GoodTurn Cycles physical spaces

  • Create, plan & execute women-specific bicycle mechanics and skills clinics

  • Create, plan & execute general bicycle mechanics and skills clinics

  • Organize bi monthly group rides

  • Organize involvement in local events

  • Staff local events

  • Write & distribute monthly / bi monthly newsletter or email

  • Manage & maintain social media accounts

  • Generate blog posts for GTC website

  • Bi monthly updates to GTC website content

  • Perform ongoing inventory checks to ensure data is entered in POS properly

  • Lead on online order fulfillment

  • Manage online catalogue of products 

  • Create custom online products when necessary

  • Provide customer service over the phone

  • Maintain cleanliness / order of shop floor

  • Maintain high sales ability

  • Check work email at beginning / end of shift 

  • Provide team with week-end email summarizing open items

  • Assist in working with / training interns

  • Act as mentor for job trainees

  • Assist in providing communication between GTC CO and Executive Dir

  • Assist in the creation & execution of retail product sales (Labor Day Sales, etc.)

Education/Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Digital marketing experience

  • Project management experience

  • Guiding experience a PLUS

  • Bicycle skills instruction experience a PLUS

  • Bicycle mechanics a PLUS

Physical Demands:

About GoodTurn Cycles

GoodTurn Cycles is a nonprofit social enterprise dedicated helping people achieve better health and providing job training to young people. Our shop specializes in sales, rentals and tours of electric bicycles (e-bikes), and repairs for all bikes.

 

GoodTurn Cycles is home to a job training program for young people with barriers to employment. Our paid internship program takes our interns through a bicycle mechanics, customer service and mentorship curriculum in which we develop transferrable basic employability skills. Although we have dedicated staff to perform the training, all employees have the opportunity to have a positive impact on our interns through mentor engagement and supplementary training.
